Overview of the New Testament
Pastor Phillip Grebe, CRE/CLP
Phil is the Pastor of Education at First Presbyterian Church, Hayward,
where he has been a youth and adult education teacher for 40 years. As a
retired High school math teacher of 38 years, Phil has a passion for giving
students logical and critical thinking skills. In teaching in the church, his
goal is to lead people to living out the gospel in the places where we live.

Class Description: How is the New Testament relevant to your faith today and in our larger society? In this course, we will look at the New Testament – the cultural context of the writings, the style of the books, the authors, and the background history. We will also explore ways to study and present the books of the New Testament to our churches, and will look at controversies particularly in the works of Paul.
Pre-Class Readings:
Read through Mark and Galatians and Jude. Read as much of each of
these books as possible before class. Note words, phrases, and images that are not clear to
you as you read. Come with questions!
